Never too Early

Hiat Labib - Tuesday, October 16, 2012

Bullying is a hot topic and not just because young Hollywood is sporting anti-bullying t-shirts during photo ops.  For the last few weeks multimedia and social networks has been bombarded with the issue.

Whether it’s the CBS WKTB news anchor that stood-up to her bully while on air or the gut wrenching serenade from Jillian Jensen during an XFactor performance and finally the Amanda Todd tragedy, bullying is an undisputed crisis.

Forest Grove is fortunate enough to deal with an age group that solves their problems by breaking one another’s block towers. However, we recognize that we still play a role that greatly impacts our students’ behaviours and beliefs.

Children may or may not learn how to discriminate against one another from their elders (It’s a debate I’ll leave for someone else’s blog) yet, we have the power to let children know what right and wrong is.

Join us in promoting open discussion that encourages how to be the anti-bully. Young children are more responsive to positive conversation when trying to retain information. Lessons on friendship, manners, love and beliefs can never happen to early.

Have you discussed bullying with your child?  We would love to hear your opinions.
