Discovering France

Hiat Labib - Thursday, November 12, 2015

Not all projects are created equally. Although a teacher can invest hours and even days in trying to execute the perfect project students often have different ideas when looking at a set-up of materials...especially when glitter is involved.

But then there are other times that an interest explodes and every project is just too beautiful and incredible not to beam over…

The students at Forest Grove learn about a new country each month and November is ‘France Month’. We're only 12 days into this somewhat gloomy November but the classrooms have come alive with discussion of Parisian painters, Coco Chanel and the ever loved croissant. Just yesterday I sat with some students who were trying to teach me some new French greetings and when my nerves got the best of me they reassured me that, ‘everybody bonjours!’.

I realize that three weeks into learning about France may not have the same charm with a group of 4 year olds as the first week but in the meantime I’m going to bonjour, au revoir and Frere Jacques with the rest of them because these moments are too sweet and unpredictable not to.

Check back at the end of the month to see more of our French inspired projects.
