Operation Christmas Child

Hiat Labib - Wednesday, November 25, 2015

For the last few weeks the staff at Forest Grove have been leaning into this holiday season. In all honesty if it were up to our students the ‘leaning in’ would be more like a swift push and the jack-o-lanterns would immediately be replaced with jingle bells so we're still trying to find our balance.

Although it seems a little premature to bust out the Nat King Cole and Christmas trees we knew we had to quench some of the excitement we were seeing from our students.

Last week we got our incredible after-school children to help us pack the boxes for our Operation Christmas Child project. The staff at Forest Grove managed to fill 33 (THIRTY-THREE!!!) boxes with tiny treasures that will be shipped to poverty stricken countries that needed our help.

When the students heard (and read) about the premise of our gifting they provided letters and pictures in each package. All of the letters were touching and precious but one sentence had me feeling the holiday spirit more than any other, it read; "This is for YOU because every child on this planet deserves the magic of this season".

Here are some pictures of the box-packing courtesy of the Studio 7 after school program.
