Forest Grove Kindergarten Blog

Forest Grove Preschool Oakville

It's all starting to happen.

Hiat Labib - Thursday, November 29, 2012

Is there anything quite as satisfying as seeing the 'after photos' of a big project? As the rooms and studios of Forest Grove come together in a celebration of all things 'holiday' I can't help but squeal with excitement.

Between the dusting of light snow, carols on the radio and a full room of preschoolers dancing to Jingle Bell Rock I can't help but feel like I'm 3 years old all over again.

Take some time to check out facebook.com/forestgrovepreschool to see our full before and after album of some of our most beautiful projects. This is just the beginning so be prepared to check back often.

If Facebook just isn't your cup of tea come in and take a gander.

Squeal with us - we'll be 3 years old together.

Tah Dah!

"Hows the Pinterest project" you ask... Umm pretty marvelous actually.

Happy Thanksgiving... again.

Happy Thanksgiving - Kindergarten Oakville

This very website has made us some pretty good friends. We've met families from Australia, India, Germay and, of course, the beautiful United States of America.

It's because of our growing friendships we find it necessary to give a big, fat, love-filled Happy Thanksgiving to all of our American neighbors!

I should also note that with this greetings comes an immense amount of jealousy and sulking for just how fabulous your holiday is. Between the football, turkey dinners and THE parade I am almost ready to beg for someone to make me an honorary citizen so I can claim the holiday as my own.

So cheers to you on this special day, let us raise our glasses and let the holidays commence!

Mission Possible.

Hiat Labib - Wednesday, November 21, 2012

This blog has yet to be used for venting purposes but since I'm feeling a little daring today I'm just going to  jump right into it. Brace yourselves folks because I'm going after Pinterest. Let me start off by saying that my love runs deep and I have a slight obsession with all things 'pinned' however, all of us Forest Grovers have faced some speed bumps...errr... mountains in recreating a Pinterest gem.

Is it just me or am I right to assume that Martha Stewart has both originated and mastered these crafty perfections?!?

Please don't interpret this blog as my white flag, we WILL be victorious. So please dear blog readers, consider this my public announcement.

I hereby allow myself 48 hours to accept, create and conquer a Pinterest craft. Feast your eyes on the classic Stick Wreathe.

Stick Wreathe - Preschool Oakville

There are a few things that I want to make clear:

A.) We will be making the child friendly version of this very craft.

B.) It needs to resemble this picture... in an obvious (not abstract) way.

C.) I HAVE to post the results/picture regardless of the outcome.

Mission Accepted.

See you in 48 hours.

Take a Moment - Preschool Oakville

I promise to keep this simple and check my 'wordy' dialogue at the door.

Here are a few facts...

1.) That piece of toilet paper is still attached to the roll...in the other room.

2.)This is a preschooler that was simply following the direction, "Get a tissue for your nose."

3.) He managed to get his nose cleaner than ever before!

Blog + Love = Blove.

Hiat Labib - Thursday, November 15, 2012

Blove. It's a word.. kind of.

As our beautiful little blog continues to grow and it's roots dig down and the branches stretch up we have to give credit to the bloggers who gave us the seed of inspiration.

Picking out a blog is just as personal as picking out a magazine, this I know for sure, but if by chance you seem to enjoy this blog and want the ultra luxe edition I strongly suggest checking out the following.

The Rockstar Diaries is not what you may expect when you hear the name. Coming in as my number one all time favorite blog, The Rockstar Diaries captures daily life in the most simplistic and captivating way. Naomi and her husband Josh invite us to get to know their family and take us on some pretty serious adventures. Click HERE to catch up on their most recent trip to Italy.

Next up is THE HONEYBEE If you want a nice balance of fashion and family this one is for you. Miss. Andee Layne (yes, that's her real name) is a new Momma who refuses to give up any of the pre-Momma luxuries and amazingly enough she is achieving her goal. Oh, I can't forget to mention that her beautiful blog comes straight out of Laguna beach, California.

The last blog I'll mention is one you'll have to discover yourself. Stephanie Nielson is somewhat of a blogging celebrity and has touched the lives of many..mine included. As the survivor of a plane cash that left Stephanie disfigured, she managed to rise above, rearrange and be resilient with the support of an adoring husband and 5 children. She asked the question, 'Was it worth it to live if I knew I wasn't going to be beautiful again." To find out her answer, click HERE.

I'm madly in blove with all of these wonderful bloggers and would love to know your feedback... even better, what blogs do you blove too?

Five Things.

Hiat Labib - Saturday, November 10, 2012

As the holidays continue to sneak up on us, one sale at a time, I thought it would be appropriate to share a little love list of the products that we've come to know and adore at Forest Grove. All but a few of these products have been introduced to us by families and students and they've passed the DROP, STOMP and SMUSH test!

Autoseal Kids Trekker Cups - Kindergarten Oakville bento box style lunch containers - Preschool Oakville Mabels-Labels - Childcare Center Oakville Preschool Oakville Kindergarten Oakville

1.) Autoseal Kids Trekker Cups. Cool cups for kids who have outgrown sippy cups but haven't outgrown spilling! The 100% leak proof promise makes these sleek drinking cups a hit for backpack storage and kids on the go.

2.) These bento box style lunch containers are fantastic for giving kids options during lunch time, while eliminating the need to carry 5 different containers at once. The other great thing about this particular style of bento box is that the food is not separated by trays that stack on top of one another which seriously cuts down on messes.

3.) Oh, Mabels-Labels it is so obvious why you're award winning! These dishwasher and microwave safe labels are any schools best friend. Forest Grove can't begin to extend enough thanks to the parents that so diligently label their children's belongings.

4.) This Melissa and Doug abacus can be found almost anywhere, our classrooms included.  Whether it be colors or counting this is a great tool for an introduction to many academic subjects. We can't forget to send Melissa and Doug a little extra love for remaining non-toxic and true to the highest standards of quality.

5.) Chapped lips? No problem! This 100% organic and all natural Eos lip balm isn't medicated but still manages to give kids that extra bit of moisture needed in colder weather. The interesting shape and solid formula makes applying the balm fun and functional.

Peel Children's Aid - Preschool Oakville

A package arrived today, a 7 paged, holiday coloured package filled with wishes.

We’re all pretty blessed to have jobs that bring such joy and hold such importance but it’s not very often that we have the opportunity to make actual wishes come true, hence our devotion to Peel Children’s Aid Holiday Wishes program.

For years we've joined forces with the community to adopt families that need a little extra help and a lot of extra love.

This year we are proud to announce that we have adopted not one, but two wonderful families.

Look out for posters that will give you detailed information on the families in need.

If you want to help make wishes come true all you have to do is:

1.)
Pick the person or family you would like to make a donation to.

2.)    Find a holiday wish from their wish list.

3.)    Bring the unwrapped wish to Forest Grove by December 9th 2010
