Forest Grove Preschool Oakville
If there’s one thing I know for sure it’s that the love of a mom, although unprecedented, does exist in relationships besides with those that birth us.
I discovered this fact through the love of a sweetest, dearest bestie whose love is without restriction and conditions. All that she is inspired me to dig a little deeper and find a mothers love in the most unassuming and inspiring places.
So this Sunday we would like to wish a Happy Mother’s Day to the mommas (of course), dads doin’ it on their own, great grey haired grannies, loving and thoughtful nannies and blonde-haired-blue-eyed best friends who do everything from change soiled diapers, teach us our ABS’s and give us a soft spot to lay our head to cry… and laugh.
You are everything. Always.
Happy Mother’s Day.
I don’t know if it’s possible for traditional to go out of style since it’s… tradition, but there is something to say about scaling back, sticking to the basics and recognizing the beauty in doing things like they've been done before. Not all wheels need to be reinvented.
Most of the staff at Forest Grove have been at this job a while and we’ve been privy to witnessing the trends of school years past; Rainbow loom anyone?
This brings me to THE ANIMAL BASKET; the perfect wicker basket that sits on the shelf, labeled and filling to the brim with zebras, lions and bears.
Every time I see a child grab for that basket and dive into an imaginary world of jungles and safaris I appreciate the tradition and simplicity of their play. I love hearing them roar or call a horse a neigh-neigh… I love it all.
Maybe it’s the familiarity and comfort of knowing that 20 years from now when children plug into their academics and ‘go digital’ that the animal basket stands a chance at survival – it’s like routing for the underdog... pun (most definitely) intended.
Have a wonderful Easter weekend everyone!
Just a reminder that Forest Grove will be closed on

Monday April 21st
After hearing all about his best friends trip to Turks and Caicos Finn (age 4) asked, "So what did all those turks and cakers look like anyway?"
As Miss. Sabrina took a new parent on a tour of Forest Grove Finn stopped them and said, "Hey, I know you're a mom because of those lines on your face.... but don't worry it's not like a granny"
Finn gave his big sister a hug good-bye and as soon as the door closed he looked at the teacher and said, "She's gone, now you can like me the best - not her, just me!"
Finn: "Do you love me Miss. Sue... because if you tell me you love me I'm going to let you open my snack for me"
"One day when I'm a big big boy I'm gonna get a big dog, some money and girl that's just like my mommmy"
If we could write a blog post on every child we would… we could… particularly because there are enough magical and mind blowing things about any given character at Forest Grove that the only challenge would be how to bring our blog posts to an end.
Today I’ll spare the words, I would… and could write about ‘little M’ and instead give you something to feast your eyes on.
There isn't a fading doubt that if Carrie Bradshaw was a real person she would look at ‘Little M’ in amazement because anybody; kids...people...grown-ups... like 'Little M' are the ultimate limited edition piece.
Like all collaborations not all needs can be met, (especially those that are beyond our ability to accommodate) However, the short list has been printed and we are starting to cross off the great suggestions that we can accommodate.
Our first improvement is the completion of our e-address book! Families can now look forward to having updates, invites, notifications and all other important information delivered directly to their inbox.
Be sure to check your Junk Mail folder in the event that we take a wrong cyber-turn and end up where we're not supposed to.
Should this whole 'email thing' not be up your alley just let us know and we can arrange for hard copies to be given to you via your childs teacher.
It is bittersweet for us to inform all friends and families that James Hibberts last day at Forest Grove Preschool will be Friday March 28th 2014.
Although we will miss James and all the laughter and knowledge he has brought to Forest Grove we are thrilled that he is accomplishing his professional objectives and has taken a new position that is more reflective of his long term goals.
We are also beyond grateful and excited to welcome Ms. Katie (back) to the J.K/S.K pm program. This change of schedule will not include the introduction of new staff members as we have created a new schedule with existing (and most importantly, familiar) employees.
