In other news the month of December is hopping with excitement! Be sure to pay close attention to the 'Dates to Remember' section so you don't miss out on any of the festivities. And last but never least, Happy Holidays and a Cheerful New Year to all of our wonderful families and friends. We hope the festivities of this special time of year fill your hearts and homes.

See you soon,
Forest Grove

The The Preschool class has been interested in Holidays and particularly Christmas… and of course, Santa! As usual we've followed their lead and found a way to use their interest to introduce other seasonal holidays such as Hanukkah, Kwanzaa and Eid. By introducing new holidays we were able to make menorahs, learned multicultural songs and of course indulged in all that is Christmas. From decorating cookies, making trees, painting picture frames and sketching our own Christmas mornings we've set the tone and raised our spirits!

The JK/SK class is very interested in caring for animals. We have been studying animals present in Ontario forests, like raccoons, wolves, and chipmunks. We have a new classroom friend who is a porcupine named Wenceslas. We are also learning about different trees in our forests. The upcoming holidays have slowly become a topic of conversation too. We are learning some new songs and are very curious about different traditions around the world. Our favourite math topics of late have centered around bar graphs. Alphabet songs and read aloud books about winter time have been a major part of our literacy learning.

JK/SK Afternoon Program:
The month of November has been a lot of fun while diving into Robert Munsch books. We started off by explaining that a book has a beginning, middle and an end and also included that a story has a climax and a resolution. The Robert Munsch book, 'Get out of Bed' even had us wearing out P.J's to school! By letting Robert Munsch continue to inspire us we managed to make clay pigs, use shadow puppets, trace letters and have a lot of laughs.

Policy of the Month: Snow Day Policy

Families and friends as the cold weather approaches please familiarize yourself with our snow day procedures. As usual, Forest Grove places the safety of our students and staff as the highest priority and will shut down in the event of extreme weather conditions. Reference your Parent handbook for details regarding the procedure so you can be prepared for our first snowfall.

Donations & thank yous:

Donations are always welcomed at Forest Grove! All materials can be given to your child's homeroom teacher and sorted accordingly.

A big thank you to all of the parents and families that have helped give a Christmas to our sponsored families. Donations will be collected Monday December 10th 2012.
